Meet Dr. Bea

What can I expect from the initial consultation?

The initial professional consultation with Dr. Bea Gerbrands is approximately one hour in duration and includes an in-depth review of the nature of your hair thinning and hair loss concerns. You may or may not need further special investigations. Following the consultation process, you will have a personalized hair thinning and hair loss treatment plan that may or may not involve hair transplantation.

What happens if I live out of town?

Phone, virtual and in-person consultations are offered to our clients.

Is the initial consultation free of charge?

A fee is currently charged for the initial professional consultation only.

Does everyone with hair thinning or hair loss need a hair transplant?

No, in the early stages of male and female androgenic alopecia (also known as pattern baldness), prescription oral and topical medications may be enough to improve and prevent further deterioration of your hair density. Certain types of alopecia are more serious and require medical management and are not appropriate for hair transplantation.

Am I a good candidate for a hair transplant?

The vast majority of healthy men and women with androgenetic alopecia are good candidates for hair transplantation. Following your initial consultation you will have a clear understanding of what your options are in regard to hair transplantation. You will also have a short and long term hair restoration plan in place.

What types of Hair Transplant methods are offered at De Haar Hair Restoration?

We offer FUE manual, FUE ARTAS Robotic FUE and FUT-Strip Hair Transplants tailored to our client’s individual circumstances, needs and goals.

What does a hair transplant cost?

We offer competitive pricing depending on the number of follicular units required to sufficiently cover the area that is in need of transplantation.

What if I can not afford a hair transplant?

We offer financing for hair transplants and other in-office hair restoration procedures.

What do I need to do before my hair transplant?

We will provide you with information and clear instructions to ensure that you are optimally prepared for your hair transplant.

What is included in the after-care following my hair transplant?

Post-hair transplant care is provided by Dr. Bea Gerbrands and her team. Hair washes, scalp care and low level light therapy are included in your hair transplant package.

How much time do I have to take off from work after my hair transplant?

Individual healing time varies. We recommend you take 7-10 days off from work to take care of yourself at home and to attend your post-hair transplant care appointments. During this time you may return to ordinary activities of daily living.

How long does it take for my scalp to heal after my hair transplant?

The tiny scabs in the grafted area require on average 7 to 10 days to fall off. Sutures, if used, are usually removed 10 days after your hair transplant. You may experience some swelling of your forehead which will last 7 to 10 days. The newly grafted area of your scalp may have a pinkish tinge for up to 1 month. If you had an FUE hair transplant, the donor area usually heals within 7 days.

Is a hair transplant painful?

We make every effort to ensure you have a pain-free experience during your hair transplant. This includes a local anesthetic to numb the scalp prior to and during the procedure. We provide oral medications to relieve discomfort, anxiety and insomnia during and after the procedure. We recommend icing of the forehead area to minimize swelling within the first three days after the procedure.

How long will it take for my transplanted hair to grow back?

The average duration for transplanted hair to start showing growth is 6 to 12 months. We offer various treatments that are proven to facilitate healing and hair growth after the procedure.

What is included in the post-hair transplant care?

Post-hair transplant care is provided by Dr. Bea Gerbrands and her team. Hair washes, scalp care, and medical grade low level light therapy are included in your hair transplant package.

Can I go out into the sun after my hair transplant?

We recommend wearing your favourite ball cap to protect your scalp from the sun in the first 3 months following your hair transplant.

I have had one transplant, can get another one?

We recommend a minimum of six to eight months before you repeat a FUT/Strip hair transplant and 3 months after an FUE hair transplant, providing you have enough donor area hair.
