Consultation Process

During your initial consultation Dr. Bea Gerbrands will examine your hair, scalp and health history. She will then determine whether surgical or non-surgical intervention is beneficial and can proceed with a hair transplant-focused consultation if appropriate. Follow-up appointment(s) will support your hair recovery journey.

If you are a man or woman who suffers from an androgenetic pattern of hair loss, there are a wide range of options that may prevent further deterioration and improve your current hair density and hair diameter. If you are a good candidate for a hair transplant, you will receive information and recommendations as to the hair transplant technique best suited to you. Your personal goals and expectations will be taken into careful consideration. Any questions you may have in regard to the hair transplant process, potential risks, pre- and post-procedure protocols and preparations will be discussed.

Your examination may include a trichoscopy which is a microscopic examination of your hair. It is a novel diagnostic technique, which is simple, non-invasive and performed in-office. It is a valuable tool because it provides microscopic photographs to determine the number of hair follicles available for ahair transplant and for evaluating your response to treatment.

If an underlying medical condition is suspected, Dr. Bea Gerbrands may recommend blood workor a histo-pathological investigation where a very small sample of skin is removed from your scalpand sent to the laboratory for further examination. Once a diagnosis is confirmed, the medicalcondition can be managed accordingly.

Consultations are available in-person, via phone and virtually.
